Reminder: World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) 4th Global Animal Welfare Conference

Written by

Every four years, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) hosts a Global Animal Welfare Conference. The OIE is an international policymaking body charged with preparing animal welfare standards that the OIE’s 180 member countries are obliged to meet. However, the OIE does not have enforcement powers. Therefore a major focus of the upcoming conference from 6-8 December in Guadalajara, Mexico is on how to achieve implementation of the OIE’s animal welfare standards. Also important to note is that the long-awaited Global Animal Welfare Strategy will be presented and discussed on December 8.

OIEMexYou can read more about the OIE and view a glossary of terms here.

Additionally, the International Coalition for Animal Welfare (ICFAW) is organizing a pre-meeting with animal protection organizations attending the conference.
